Fireflies

Fireflies is one of the leading AI Notetakers on the market. It's a great solution for teams looking to record and transcribe meetings, and get a quick and clear summary as soon as a meeting is over. If you don't have their app downloaded, Fireflies sends a bot to your meetings whether you're present or not. That's one extra "participant" in the meeting, it plays a recording to inform you that this meeting is being recorded, and sends a chat message too, which can be distracting or annoying for users.

The meeting summary is detailed, including General Summary, Notes & Action Items sections. The level of detail is impressive, though it can feel like too much to review. Action Items are broken out by person, and each one is linked & timestamped so you can click and go straight to that part of the conversation. There is an AI bot that you can chat with per meeting, so when you go to a specific meeting's recording, you can ask questions to the AI about that meeting and clarify any questions that you have.

One drawback of the Action Items section is that this tool is a notetaker, not a task management tool, so it just gives you a list of to-dos but no way to track if they've been completed or not. To actually track the tasks, you'll need to move them over to your task or project management tool. You can do that manually or automatically via integrations.

Fireflies offers a desktop app that allows users to record any meeting on your computer without sending a bot, making the Chrome Extension redundant. There is a "bug" that you can send a bot to the same meeting multiple times, so be careful here. If you also take in-person meetings, they offer mobile apps for both Apple & Android that allow you to record in-person meetings and get the same post-meeting notes you do from a virtual call.

When you connect your calendar to Fireflies, you'll also get a Meeting Prep email 1 hour before scheduled calls that summarizes past conversations, action items, and relevant context for participants.

Fireflies integrations are robust, offering connections to over 100 apps, including Zapier, so you can connect it to virtually any tool.

Language support is excellent with transcription and summaries in over 100 languages and a Multi-Language option if you have meetings in more than one language, including Hebrew and English.

The Free plan limits the number of transcripts and AI summaries you get, and if you have more than a couple meetings a month you'll burn through those quickly. Downloading transcripts or recordings requires a paid plan, and with a maximum of 800 minutes of storage on Free, you'll either need to delete old meetings or upgrade to keep using it. Video recording is only available on the Business or Enterprise plan. The honest way to think about the Free plan is as a free trial, it's useful for testing, but not built for regular use.
