Chaser is a task management add-on to Slack that makes it simple to track your to-dos, right from within your Slack messages and channels. For teams not using slack, this system isn't for you (but you should read "Why your nonprofit should use Slack").

Chaser is one of those tools that makes your life easier. You're in a Slack channel, someone says "Get this done by Tuesday" and then a thousand other messages come up and you forget that it needed to be done. Chaser solves this in a great way, all you have to do it type /chaser tag someone with @name and then type the tag description, if you want to include a due date you can, but don't have to. An example: /chaser @Todd get the tool overview posted to Manna by Sunday.

You type it in, it notifies the user, and when the due date arrives you get a reminder. You can get a message posted to the channel whatever day or days you want, see a simple task list in Slack, or you can load up their web dashboard. The web dashboard makes it easy to see all tasks, filter by things like assignee, due date, channel or tag.

The main alternative to a tool like this is Slack Lists, but I find them to be cumbersome and not so useful (read our review here). If you aren't using Slack, something like Superlist is similar, but it lives outside your communication tool, so it's a very different conversation.

All in all, Chaser is a powerful tool that lets you keep track of your tasks without any of the complication that most other tools add. With a 14-day free trial and nearly zero set-up or learning curve, it's well worth a try.
